R Tools for Visual Studio

The BlueGranite blog recently featured a post I wrote about R Tools for Visual Studio. It’s not meant to be an in-depth exploration into RTVS. Rather, at a high level, it takes a very basic look at some reasons why a developer may choose to use RTVS either in conjunction with or in lieu of R Studio.

This article came out of some quick internal research that my colleague Javier Guillen asked me to do. “Quick internal research” betrays the fact that I am not a regular RTVS user, but I can see some advantages in different circumstances. Essentially, I was asked to consider if R Tools for Visual Studio is something that we can incorporate as a tool for client solutions, when it would it be applicable or useful, whether it is something we would recommend, etc.
